this dang cat

Our little peach just turned 9 years old. Seems like just yesterday he was the size of a beanie baby, sniff sniff.

He has taken to moving things around once again. Back in our old place he would get fixated on certain things- slippers, the mousepad, the drain cover- and move them around the house. He hasn't done it much here, until recently.

He's started moving the baby's toys around. When we wake up, there's usually some playthings in our bedroom doorway. One day it was a little beachball and another cushy ball. Yesterday it was the cushy ball & a stuffed bunny. (I'm surprised the bunny wasn't boiling in a pot of water on the stove...)

I wonder what this means. I guess I should know better than to try to get into the mind of a cat, particularly our cat. I can only hope that this is a sign that he is coming to accept the presence of the baby in our household. She's starting to chase him around, and he still seems to want nothing to do with her. He has whacked her in the face a couple of times, but I think he meant it with love. Right?

Smoosh aka Doud (The Black and Whitey, not The Himalayan) didn't pay any attention to Mia until she started resembling an actual person, around age 4 or so.

Black Tarry Stool looks very nice in that bib :)

I'm a teacher. Apparently this means I must know EVERY answer to EVERY question in all of creation. Heaven help me if I make a spelling error. I'm also a wife & "new Mommie" (shudder). Don't get me wrong, I love my babies, but the phrase "new mommie" has got to go. It just conjures up images of scrunchies & sweat pants in my mind. Phooey.
