Bad Summer TV- Part 1

The Coreys

Summer TV is rarely good. Unfortunately, I've been able to catch a good deal of it due to this insane "morning" (all-day) sickness I've had raging for the past 10 + weeks. Yeah, I've been riding the couch hard during my baby-free evening hours. Besides all the baseball, I've also subjected myself to some really bad shows. And yes, I do keep watching them.

When I first heard the Coreys were making a comeback, I was mildly pleased. I had a slight fondness for Haim back in the day, nothing on the Simon-Le-Bon-Level or anything. I just thought he was cute.
Needless to say, I was sadly disappointed in the show. The premise is that Haim comes to live with Feldman & his wife. Haim, out of rehab & ready to get back on track, is made out to be some sort of rude superslob. Feldman, with his dullard wife, is made out to be the neat freak. It's so obviously staged, it'd be an insult to my intelligence, if I hadn't already sacrificed that by watching the damn show in the first place.

Par example: Feldman & wife are having a romantic interlude in the hot tub. In walks Haim, ready to take a dip with them. OOOOOPS! HIS BAD! How OUTRAGEOUS! Come on...

Show highlight: Haim was really bummin' when he found out that they were making the Lost Boys 2 and it wasn't starring him and Feldman. Feldman consoled him with this gem: "Dude, I totally know where you are coming from. Now you know how I feel when they didn't ask me to be in Ninja Turtles 2."

They really do seem to be really good friends, which is the only redeeming quality to the show. I just wish it was more reality, less script. On the positive side, Feldman has a really nice house. It just proves what I've always known- to be a washed-up or B-level star ain't really all that bad. Even Carrottop is laughin' all the way to the bank.

Worth watching? : Ehhh, probably not.

Hangin' with

Bon Jovi. Unfortunately he was fully clothed though.

This week my cousin Neil called from L.A. and said he was coming to town for 2 days...last minute. He said he was producing a video for Bon Jovi, that they were filming at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn and would I like to drop by the set?

Um, yeah.

To be honest, I was just excited to see my cousin, since it's been about 5 years. Not that I have anything against Bon Jovi or anything. In fact, I did attend their Slippery When Wet tour (although sadly, I think I went to see the opening act- Skid Row. Egads.)

It was really cool though. We did see Jon & I was positive Ritchie gave me the "How you doin?" eye wink. My cousin & my mom reassured me that he was just making googly eyes at Ellie. Damn.

Much to my mother's chagrin, I didn't take any paparazzi photos. I'm pretty sure my cousin would have been pretty horrified if I would have stuck my camera in their faces. We were playing it real cool, see. Like I hang out with celebrities all the time, sure I do.

I did write it down in Ellie's baby book- "Baby's First Video Shoot". She got to sit in the director's chair and watch them filming on the monitors and everything. Pretty sweet for a 19 month old. Someone on the set did film her, & was trying to goad her into saying "Bon Jovi Rocks!" Instead she said her ABCs.

I'm a teacher. Apparently this means I must know EVERY answer to EVERY question in all of creation. Heaven help me if I make a spelling error. I'm also a wife & "new Mommie" (shudder). Don't get me wrong, I love my babies, but the phrase "new mommie" has got to go. It just conjures up images of scrunchies & sweat pants in my mind. Phooey.
